Welcome to School! |
9-28-07
Hooray for Happy Hat Day! We honored the letter Hh on Thursday by wearing our hats and singing “Happy Hat Day to You”. We happily posed for some pictures.
Look for the two field trip forms in your child’s folder.
The first trip will take place next week as the weather permits. We will take
our rest time and then walk to
K-3 Choir will sing Sunday, October 14th. Please have your child report to the choir room by 7:40 a.m. as we will run through our songs before the service.
Zero the Hero came to visit us on Wednesday for the 20th day of school. Once again he came to help us count by tens and brought us zero shaped gummi lifesavers.
Spanish: Mrs. Anderson is teaching us Spanish
words for the colors. This fits in
perfectly with our literature theme which is Color is Everywhere. We also tied this in with Noah’s
Apples are everywhere.
We wrote a story about our favorite color of apples. This is a very predictable
form which enables the children to read their own story. We are working on the
sight words I, like, said, the, who, and
the color words. Ask your child to read their Apple Book to you. Have them
share it with a sibling or grandparent. It came home on Wednesday.
Phonics/Reading: We read and spelled our first words…log and hog. We are working on blending sounds together to make words. As we learn more sounds, we will grow in our ability to read and spell. We read the story Mr. Rabbit and the Lovely Present. It is about a little girl who wants to make a present for her mother’s birthday. She talks to a rabbit and he helps her find fruits in her mom’s favorite colors. She then makes a lovely, colorful fruit basket for her gift.
Picture Day next Friday, October 5th. We will hope to have our pictures taken in the morning. Even if you do not want to buy the pictures, your child should be dressed for the composite picture.
Worship the Lord with your family this weekend!
