Welcome to School! |
November 30, 2007
K-3 Choir will sing Sunday, December 9th at the 10:30 a.m. service. Your child should come to the music room by 10:10 a.m. to warm-up with the choir.
Poinsettia pick up after school Tuesday, December 4th. Please come to the preschool hall to pick up any plants that you ordered.
Many thanks to Joel and Jeaunetta Westenberg who took time to drive for our field trip to the Nutcracker. We read and discussed this fairy tale and watched part of the video so that the children can follow the story during the ballet.
We had fun with our feet and fingers this week as we focused on the letter Ff. We sang songs about frogs, foxes, fishing, farms and more. Throughout the past weeks we have focused on 12 letters in our alphabet. That includes three of the short vowels (o/a/i) and nine consonants. As you can tell from listening to your child read, each time we add a new letter our reading/word power increases a great deal. We also added of to our list of sight words. We use white boards or letter cards to spell words each week. Please have your child read this list when it comes home. Your support is vital at this stage.
The HAWC has been a great deal of fun for the children. This week we focused on the underhand throw with soft Frisbee like toys. We did hoop tossing, wall target tossing, partner tossing, and toss away into a tub. Each week we work on some tumbling activities. This week it was headstands. We always do warm up exercises, do a structured activity and then end with some freeplay.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were our heroes this week! They followed the First Commandment and did not bow down to King Nebuchadnezzar’s idol even under intense pressure. In the end, God’s great power to save his people spoke volumes to the king and still speaks to us today! We continue to work on our Christmas songs for our program. Kaitlynn Schwark a seventh grade student is teaching K-2 to sign the first verse of “Silent Night”.
December Book-It is coming home today. Please continue to read with your child as this is a great way to ensure his/her success as an early reader. Return the November form next week.
Chapel Offerings: A friendly competition is taking place between the grades to see which class can bring the most food items for the food pantry. The number of items will be divided by the number of students to make it fair for the smaller classes. So far our class has collected 12 items. We will collect food items throughout 2nd quarter.
Worship the Lord with
your family this weekend!
