January 31, 2008
Please read and discuss your child’s report card with him/her. Sign and return the envelope by Friday, February 1st, so that I know you saw the report. I will use the same envelope next quarter. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to call me and set up a time to discuss your child’s progress.
Journals were sent home today. Please look at your child’s journal and admire their work. Return the journal by Monday, February 4th so that we can continue to add to our journals throughout the year. The journals will be sent home at the end of the year.
Paper grocery sacks needed for various projects. Please send them in as you collect them.
We’re celebrating 100 Days of School… We will celebrate Zero the Hero’s big birthday with lots of fanfare and fun! Please allow your child to bring a collection of 100 items (all the same thing) in a paper lunch size bag. For example; 100 marshmallows, 100 paper clips, 100 lifesavers, pennies, kernels of corn, cereal etc…Be creative for more fun!
Happy Ground Hog’s Day to you and your family! We will celebrate on Friday, February 1st with a story, songs and a craft.
Valentine’s Day to be celebrated on Thursday, February 14th. Please allow your child to bring a treat for the class. This should be individually wrapped so that your child can pass out their treat to classmates. It is not necessary to write the other children’s names on the card or candy. We have 8 students in our class. Please send a few extras if possible. Your child may like to remember his/her special 5th/6th grade friend, the day care providers (if your child goes to day care), janitors (2), secretaries (2), Mrs. Fox our lunch lady and of course Mr. Ladendorf.
Memory Work Booklets will be sent home for the first time today. Please make sure that your child’s book is returned to their folder so that we can mark them as we memorize a passage. We will say our verses on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is a low pressure approach as we will say the passage a number of times each day throughout the week and review them as a group before we say them individually. We have been using the same approach throughout the year, but I would ask that you work with your child and talk with them about what the passage means to you or your family.
Name, address and phone number please! We are currently working on writing our last names. The children also need to know their address and phone number. Please work with your child on this important information as we hope to master this during the month of February.
