Umbrella Day unfolded into fun! On Tuesday we had lots of fun twirling our umbrellas to our morning calendar songs, Jeremiah 29:11, This is the Day and more. We took our upside down umbrellas downstairs at recess and moved around the fellowship hall to Christmas music. We enjoyed sleeping under them at rest time and listening to our story. Best of all…we took a short walk in the rain.
Memory Work: Please practice one or two commandments each night. Send the sheet back so that we can mark off the commandment as your child learns them. This is a review for your child. Several students are already in the Commandment Club. They can review them for you. Thanks for your support.
We followed the star to the live Nativity…The children certainly enjoyed participating in the Nativity program with the afternoon preschool students. We thank Mrs. Zillmer for inviting us. The children enjoyed singing many songs that they recalled from last year.
Write, write, write…This week we added a number of pages to our journal. We wrote about penguins, umbrellas, and our favorite winter activity. We also wrote chart stories about each of these topics. We reread these stories each morning.
Show your Good Shepherd School Spirit by wearing royal blue/white each Friday. If your child does not have a school shirt, I would encourage you to buy one as we will have a school spirit day during National Lutheran Schools Week in March as well as other events like field trips.
More math…We talked about the length of classroom objects and compared them by identifying shorter and longer items. We also ordered objects by length. We measured liquids using cup and quart containers and talked about full, half full and empty containers.
